The FAQ are under development, as is the site, and are subject to change.
What do you mean by “tall”?
Some “tall” fashion lines simply target taller than average women (5′7″-5′10″). Others target very tall women (5′10″+). I am 6″ tall and my line is the latter type. Sarah Vain and Tall should fit those in the range 5’10″ to 6’4″ but there is so much individual variation in torso and limb length some shorter and taller women may fit certain pieces. It’s best to try them on — if they don’t fit, send them back. I do my absolute best to ensure consistent fit across garments.
How long is the inseam on your pants?
Ah, the magic question. Wherever possible, I cut pants with a 40″ inseam.
Why? First, I want to fit as many tall girls as possible. Second, most like to have at least two pairs, one to wear with flats and one with boots or heels. You’ll want them to be different lengths.
I can alter the inseam for you, subject to an alteration fee of $15 AUD per pant. Pants cannot be returned or exchanged once altered, so I recommend you do what short people do, and take them along with your shoes to an alterations shop. It’s cheap and easy.
Short people complain about this all the time, as if it were somehow a real pain to chop a few inches off a pant. My heart bleeds.
I don’t feel comfortable buying over the net. Do you have a shop?
Not at the moment, but Paypal is one of the most secure and widely used systems in the world. If you live near Melbourne, Victoria, and have a few tall friends (or a basketball team!), I would love to organise an informal ‘trunk show’ for you — just ask.
Sign up to the newsletter, or join my Facebook page to be notified of events where you can try on these clothes. And please — let me know if you want me to visit your home town. The more I know, the more I can do for you.
I don’t have a Paypal account — what should I do?
Paypal now accepts credit cards from those who don’t have an account: just follow the prompts after you check out. If you would prefer to pay by direct deposit, cheque, postal, or money order, please contact me (anne@sarahvainandtall.com) to arrange a hold. Your order will not ship until proceeds have been cleared.
Do you wholesale? Are there shops where I can try on your clothes?
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — see the shop for details.
What are your policies on refunds and exchanges?
Refunds and exchanges are possible if the garment is returned in its original condition, within one month (two months for international purchases). I can’t accept altered or worn garments for exchange or refund, so please make sure you like the fit before you get your pants hemmed.
Christmas gifts can be exchanged — or contact me to organize store credit.
Please email ahead to let me know your package is on the way.
Will you be able to tell if I wore this to just one party? If I’m really really careful or if I wash it?
Yes. I’m magic that way. I’m not some huge corporation, I make quality garments in small runs, and I can’t afford to throw a garment away because someone only wanted to wear it once. If your garment is returned in less than new condition, you won’t be refunded.
I don’t want to do that, so please play nice!
